What makes mobile app marketing different in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE?
These are three very different app markets. Egypt is large and price sensitive. Saudi Arabia is fully online and iPhone heavy. The UAE is small, rich and multilingual.
| Egypt | Saudi Arabia | UAE | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Population (Oct 2025) | 119 million | 34.7 million | 11.4 million |
| Internet users | 98.2 million (82.7%) | 34.4 million (99%) | 11.3 million (99%) |
| Mobile connections | 121 million (102% of population) | 48.7 million (140%) | 23.0 million (202%) |
| iOS share of mobile use (Aug 2026) | About 12% | About 52% | About 22% |
| Snapchat ad reach | 20.6 million | 25.3 million (72.9% of population) | 5.13 million |
| Currency for pricing | EGP | SAR | AED |

Step 1: Set up tracking before you spend
Install a mobile measurement partner (MMP) such as AppsFlyer or Adjust. An MMP shows which ad brought each user and what they did next.
- Define 5 to 10 events, from install to first payment.
- Connect every ad platform you plan to use.
- Set up iOS SKAdNetwork reporting, which matters most in Saudi Arabia.
- Check MMP numbers against your backend before scaling.
Step 2: Which channels work best in each market?
| Start with | Add when it works | |
|---|---|---|
| Egypt | Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok, Google App campaigns | Influencers, Snapchat for younger users, ad networks with fraud checks |
| Saudi Arabia | Snapchat, TikTok, Google App campaigns, Apple Ads | Meta, influencers, ad networks |
| UAE | Meta, Google App campaigns, Apple Ads | TikTok, Snapchat, campaigns in English, Arabic and other community languages |
Snapchat is strong in Saudi Arabia. Snap says it reaches over 25 million people monthly in the Kingdom, and DataReportal puts its ad reach at 72.9% of the population.
TikTok's ad reach is large in all three markets: 48.8 million adults in Egypt and 38.6 million in Saudi Arabia, according to DataReportal. Apple Ads, which shows your app at the top of App Store search, is available in all three countries.
Step 3: Build creative that sells one need
Creative is the ad itself: the video, image and words. In app growth, it moves results more than targeting does.
- Make short vertical videos, 6 to 20 seconds, in local dialect: Egyptian for Egypt, Saudi or Khaleeji for the Gulf.
- Show the app on screen within the first 3 seconds.
- Make one video per need: "send money in seconds", "pay bills from home", not one video about everything.
- Test many versions before you scale. For a leading Egyptian fintech app, we ran 200+ creative tests and 25 need based video cutdowns.
Step 4: How do you turn installs into active users?
An install is not a customer. Activation means the user completes the first key action, such as a first order or first transaction.
- Cut sign up steps. Ask only for what you need on day one.
- Send a welcome offer that pushes the first key action within 24 to 48 hours.
- Optimize ad campaigns for the activation event, not the install.
- Track activation rate by channel. Drop channels with cheap installs and no activation.
The fintech app above reached a 38% first time activation rate and 1 million registered users in 9 months.
Step 5: Keep users and plan for seasons
Retention is how many users keep coming back. Use push notifications, in app messages and CRM tools such as Insider to bring users back with timed, personal offers.
Plan big pushes around local seasons. The Bidease and Sensor Tower 2025 Middle East App Growth Report found shopping app downloads spike more than 30% above a typical day in Saudi Arabia and the UAE during Ramadan and Black Friday. In Egypt, plan for Ramadan, Eid, White Friday and back to school.
How we approach it at OneKind
- Week 1 to 2: tracking audit and fixes, event map, store page review.
- Week 2 to 6: test phase. Small budgets across 2 to 3 channels per market, many creatives, one goal event.
- Week 6 onward: scale the winners, cut the rest, add retargeting and CRM journeys.
- Every week: one report with cost per paying user by channel, market and creative.
We run this across Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE from our Cairo team, with local dialect creative for each market.

FAQ
What is the best platform to advertise an app in Saudi Arabia?
There is no single best one, but Snapchat, TikTok and Google App campaigns usually belong in the first test. DataReportal puts Snapchat's ad reach in Saudi Arabia at 25.3 million people, about 73% of the population.
Should I launch in Egypt and the Gulf at the same time?
Usually no. Launch in one market, fix activation and retention, then expand with local creative and pricing for the next market.
Do I need Arabic ads for the UAE?
Use both. The UAE is multilingual, so test English and Arabic, and other community languages if your audience needs them.
How long does it take to see results from app marketing?
Expect 4 to 6 weeks of testing before you know which channels and creatives work. Scaling comes after that.
Is Apple Ads available in Egypt?
Yes. Apple lists Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE among its Apple Ads countries.
